SPX 0DTE trading log

The days I kept the rules and the days I broke them, written down as they happened. This tracks rules, not returns — did I compute R:R before entering, did I respect the time rule, did I stay inside the size limit.

How often

Why one or two a week

The cadence changed in September 2026. Before that I wrote one up on every day I traded, which is why the earlier entries run day after day. It is now usually one or two a week.

Most of my time goes into building the tools. I am building a trading-analysis app with Claude, and that work takes a large part of the day. Writing one entry properly takes half a day of its own. Doing both every day makes both of them thinner.

And committing to daily means filling slots. On a day with nothing worth keeping I would write something anyway, and that entry does not do the job this log exists for. What I am recording is not "I traded today" but "did what I learned today change the next decision."

So I stopped promising a schedule and changed the test instead. An entry goes up when there is something worth keeping. A gap may mean I sat out, or that the day left nothing worth writing down.

What goes into an entry has not changed. Whether I kept the rules, why if I broke them, what share of the daily limit I used — what shrinks is the number of entries, not the density of one.

What gets recorded

  • · Strategy — credit spread, iron condor, butterfly, single call/put
  • · Gamma regime — positive, negative, or near the flip
  • · Rule — kept or broken (and why, if broken)
  • · Expiry — 0DTE, weekly, monthly
  • · Outcome — target hit, loss contained, loss

Why rules instead of returns

Because a losing day still counts. "I lost but I kept the rule" and "I made money but I broke the rule" — those two are the important ones.

And it doesn't depend on account size. Rule adherence reads the same whether the numbers are large or small.

These are records for information and personal reference, not a recommendation to trade. Your decisions and their outcomes are your own.
